Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Scheme :- The Central Government has proposed to set up 3000 (Van Dhan) centers under Van Dhan Plan 2018-19. Ministry of Tribal Affairs will establish 30,000 self-help groups across the country. The main focus is to use up to forest property (non-wood production). Using it for the welfare of tribal people through 2 lakh crores and SHGs is to use it.
In the first phase, the government will launch this scheme in 115 ambitious districts. And later it will be implemented in all tribal areas. This plan will ensure that the tribal people will be given benefits of value addition and fair prices. The government will implement this scheme in three phases.
Van Dhan Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana and Gobar Dhan Yojana are the major schemes of the Modi government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched this scheme on Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti in Chhattisgarh on April 14, 2018. Prime Minister Narendra Modi re-started the one-year plan that has failed 20 years ago. In Jangla, he started the plan to buy forest produce at the minimum support price.
Under this scheme, efforts will be made to get the right price for the tribal people’s forest produce, but the forest produce policy which started by PM on Saturday was 20 years ago. This plan was implemented in Bastar in 1999 but after the opposition of non-tribal traders the government withdrew this policy.
Van Dhan Scheme 2018-19 – Setting Up of 3000 Kendras (30,000 SHGs)
Van Dhan Yojana 2018-19 is a plan to create livelihood for the tribals. This is done through the use of non-wood forest produce and through the use of the real property of forest (Van Money). There is a great possibility of empowering the tribes in Van Dhan Yojana. The government will focus on convergence with the Panchayati Raj.
This plan will focus on building the traditional knowledge of the tribes and the skill set. This will be done through the addition of technology and IT for value addition. In the Wild Tribal Districts, the Government will make every effort to establish Van Dhan Vikas Kendra, owned by Tribal Community.
In each such kind, 10 tribal SHGs will be involved, in which each SHG will have 30 tribal NTFP deposits and artisans. This will ensure about 300 beneficiaries per center.
